The 2015 Gymkhana GRiD Final of the European Gauntlet took place at the world-famous Santa Pod Raceway in England last weekend - and HPI Racing was there!
Gymkhana GRiD is the ultimate competition that combines knife-edge drift and autocross skills, head-to-head racing and complete racing commitment from the world's best drivers in monster RWD and AWD cars - and then face monsters like the infamous Hoonicorn, driven by the legendary Ken Block himself! The Gymkhana GRiD Final is the last in a series of events that pits drivers from all over the world directly against each other in a battle of skills, horsepower and bravery!
The HPI Racing team was invited by Monster Energy to take part and show off the latest and greatest HPI vehicles with our brand new bright orange HPI Racing tent featuring video screens, Ken Block car display and three separate demonstration areas. Visitors to the tent could collect an awesome HPI swag bag packed with an exclusive HPI poster, HPI pen, myHPI info card and a handful of HPI stickers.
With regular high-flying demonstrations featuring the Baja 5B, Savage Octane XL, Savage XS Flux, Vorza Flux HP and many more, the big crowd around the HPI tent was wowed by big jumps, loud exhausts and (because of the small demonstration space) just a taste of the speed that the cars can hit!
Visitors to the tent could marvel at the realistic licenced Ken Block replica WR8 and Micro RS4 cars, and even drive one for themselves on our Micro-sized Gymkhana GRiD track! With 2 minutes of practice and a minute to get in as many laps as they could, the queue was kept moving with the promise of a Ken Block replica of their very own for the driver with the most laps!
Finally, those interested in the HPI Crawler King trucks to attempt the treacherous canyons of our brand new crawler table! This realistic hillscape featuring near-vertical rocky slopes and real dirt is a great way to appreciate just how versatile the Crawler King trucks are and what kinds of hills they can climb.
At the end of the day, the top 3 drivers in the rear-wheel drive, all-wheel drive and invitational RX-150 buggy classes were each presented with a selection of HPI kits, each painted gold, silver or bronze to match their finishing positions!
HPI Racing would like to thank Monster Energy and Santa Pod Raceway for letting us show off HPI Racing cars and trucks to thousands of motorsport fans during the Gymkhana GRiD Final weekend!
