Awesome Short Course Action!
What is all this 'Short-Course' stuff about?
New for some, however, off-road short-course racing is nothing new.
It’s what we have been doing within the R/C industry for
years! As the R/C industry takes a considerable amount of styling
cues from full-size motorsports, the short-course R/C rage is no
different. One look to the off-road sector of motorsports,
short-course racing is what is in style or trend right now. But is
it just that, a trend or fad? In recent years, short course racing
has come to be in the mainstream consciousness more and more, with
crossover racing stars and major companies taking part in events
like the X-Games, Baja racing events, rally racing, motocross
freestyle competitions and even BMX dirt jumping and mountain bike
trials. Off-road is BACK, and in a big way! This doesn't mean that
HPI is brand new on the scene, though - ever since the release of
the Savage in the early 2000's, then the monster appeal of the Baja
buggy and 5T truck, HPI has been at the forefront of the off-road
scene around the world. Our fabulous 120-mile trip on the famous
Barstow to Vegas off-road run and the even bigger 800+ mile jaunt
around the edges of Iceland proved that the Baja was not only
rugged enough to make the journey, but that it could go much
farther than anyone could anticipate! While our 1/10-scale BLITZ
Short-Course Truck is new, HPI is not new to the game of off-road.
The Blitz is the perfect off-road
basher, as well as a supremely confident racing machine. Based
around a lengthened version of the E-Firestorm chassis - which has
proven its worth when fitted with a monstrously powerful Flux
brushless motor - the Blitz includes features that you wouldn't
expect, but drastically improve durability, handling, rear traction
and utter coolness! The Blitz can take big air: take-offs and
landings are a breeze, just control the nose of the truck with a
blip of throttle or a dab of brakes. The Blitz lands superbly off
the jumps: a massive skid plate adapted from the Baja 5T protects
the front end while the long-stroke suspension cushions the blow.
The Blitz handles like a dream: officially licensed Maxxis Trepador
Comp tyres grip all surfaces and 3-degree rear uprights help keep
the rear end planted.
HPI RACING has teamed up with MAXXIS International [a full-scale
global tyre manufacturer] for a collaborative effort to reproduce
the Maxxis Trepador tires for the Blitz. The full-size Trepador
Competition Bias Tyre is part of the Maxxis Competition Division
where extreme off-road driving calls for a tough tyre. The unique
tread element arrangement ensures a uniform tread contact area for
sure-footed handling. A multi-stage staggered shoulder pattern
provides improved control even on the most difficult off-road and
rocky terrain. These are the design elements that HPI Racing BLITZ
designer, Erik Shauver keyed into as he set out to capture both the
original design of the Maxxis Trepador Comp Bias while also
creating a tire that works within the R/C "scaled" environment. Not
a simple task, "It's not like you just stick a full-size tire
design in the copy machine and hit the reduce button," says Erik,
who was also behind the E-Firestorm, Firestorm, Nitro 3 and other
popular HPI designs. While making use of the Maxxis Trepador tread
pattern, Erik blended its unique design characteristics with
inner fabric belting that extends the life of the
tyre and adds extra life to the tread. Also, the tyre's inner-foam
is composed of a unique compound and texture which work with the
shape of the BLITZ wheel for increased performance. Our 1:10 scale
Maxxis Trepador tires are well suited for a wide range of
environmental conditions.
Proven HPI durability throughout
The HPI Blitz uses nothing but the finest grade, high-impact nylon
plastic on the most critical areas of the truck - from the bumpers
to the super beefy arms and everything in between. HPI's industry
known strength and durability makes the Blitz friendly for all - be
it an R/C newcomer, or the skilled competitor.
Lengthened chassis
The Blitz features an all-new, long wheelbase main chassis based on
the E-Firestorm - lengthened to deliver the most stable feel a
short-course truck can offer.
High Performance Shocks
The threaded shock bodies feature super smooth shock action , as
well as quick, on-the-fly adjustability.
Baja 5T Inspiration
The unique and proven pivoting skid-plates have been adapted from
the unmatched Baja 5T platform, which are able to truly absorb
impacts.
Maximum Rear Traction
Factory installed quick-change 3-degree rear toe block provides you
with plenty of traction, and making changes is easy.
The electronics fitted in the Blitz are rugged and secure, giving
you the confidence to take the Blitz to the limit! The trusty TF-1
radio is a pistol-grip style transmitter, with a realistic steering
wheel for turning and standard trigger control for acceleration and
braking. Multiple crystals are available so you can run the Blitz
alongside other RC vehicles with no radio interference. The new
RF-6 receiver takes the radio signals from the transmitter and
passes them to the SC-15 electronic speed controller, which feeds
power to the strong Firebolt 15 motor. The SC-15 also features
reverse so you can back out of tough spots! Finally, a sturdy SF-1
servo handles the steering duties. All of this equipment features
standard connectors so you can upgrade individual parts as you
desire.
