Baja Round Trip of Iceland!

Mon, 18th June 2007

Starting Saturday, the 23rd of June, a Baja 5B sponsored by Iceland shop Tomstundahusid will circumnavigate Iceland along the main national Route 1 ('Hringvegur' in Icelandic)! With an estimated 4 day driving time, the Baja team will pass near many famous national landmarks such as glacial lagoons and major cities! Braving high winds, broad dusty glacial sandurs and stretches of unpaved road, the Baja will be tested to its limits! Media coverage from Icelandic television Channel 2, two newspapers and Bilar&sport magazine, plus a police escort for the trip, will make this a spectacular way to get RC in the eyes of the public and into the mainstream!

In preparation for the 1400km (870 mile) journey, a dedicated mechanic will ride along to ensure nothing delays the Baja's journey. The Tarmac Buster tyres were chosen for their long life and handling qualities: 10 pairs of #4840 rear tyres and 6 pairs of #4837 front tyres will be in the mechanic's car. The only options that will be used are #3275 Heavy Duty Beadlock Rims, #80584 Metal Gear Conversion for the steering servo, #2018 3000mAh Receiver Battery, #86498 18T Pinion Gear and #ED010351 Edit Dog Bones. HPI Europe is one of the primary sponsors of this amazing journey, along with the Tomstundahusid model shop.
