UK Baja Finals Qualifier Result!

Mon, 3rd August 2009

Baja racers from all over the UK, plus racers from Belgium, Holland, Switzerland and Denmark made the trip to Bristol to Mini-Moto Raceway (better known as MMR)! The weekend was spread over three days, from the 17th to the 19th of July, with Friday the 17th for setting up camp, meeting friends from the hpibajaforum.com forums and getting the cars ready for Saturday and Sunday. The track was open and many of the Baja bashers got busy with crazy freestyle antics that hopefully didn't damage their cars too much!

Saturday was reserved for the qualifying races, with a hog roast in the evening followed by indoor go kart racing and even Baja bashing indoors! MMR has it all! On Sunday the final races were held, with a 2-hour race the main event. 6 teams of varying sizes took part and in the end the top 2 teams were split by just 4 laps! Any problem could have changed things for the worse for either team but in the end it was the MMR/Uber RC team that took the win and qualified for a spot at the Baja Endurance Challenge Series Final in Germany! Final positions of the teams after 2hrs: 1st Team MMR/Uber RC - 153 laps 2nd Frogs - 149 laps 3rd Team Roaster - 131 laps 4th Bristol Boys - 121 laps 5th Badly Driven - 86 laps 6th Craigrobo takes it - 80 laps Several companies provided prizes for the participants: Turtle Racing Scorpion Unlimited DDM Hostile Racing Product Uber RC HPI Europe RSX Racing products Chippenham Model Car Club provided the race computer and Gareth had a long list of people to thank for making it a real weekend to remember.
