HPI-Sponsored Popbangcolour at the Autosport International Show

Fri, 17th February 2012

Last month, the annual Autosport International motorsports show took place in Birmingham, England. Hundreds of exhibitors showed off their products, designs and services to thousands upon thousands of visitors to the Birmingham NEC, site of some of the biggest trade fairs and shows in all of the UK. One of the most popular exhibits was the live artistry taking place on the Popbangcolour stand, where motorsports artist Ian Cook was busy creating huge pieces of art, including the classic Le Mans-winning Porsche 962 and a replica of the 'Senna' movie poster.

What makes Ian's work unique is that every piece he creates is made using RC cars! He applies paint to the car tyres and drives or rolls them on the canvas, mixing colours and techniques to create a totally one-of-a-kind piece of art! Last year, HPI sponsored Ian with an E10 kit for his works, and this year he's been upgraded to a Sprint 2 with a Porsche 911 bodyshell! Below, you can see Ian posing with Manish Pandey, the executive producer and writer of the 'Senna' documentary, who also signed the work while it was still in progress. Ian demonstrates regularly around the UK at motorsport festivals and corporate outings for major car manufacturers, so keep a look out for him in 2012!
