HPI @ Model Expo 2004!

Fri, 16th July 2004

NEC, Birmingham 10-11 July 2004 This was the first year for the Model Expo, and wow, what a result! HPI Europe had a fantastic weekend, showing off the latest kits and parts from our ever growing range.

Several model shops attended the Model Expo, and we were pleased to see many happy customers walking around with Savage and Rush Evo kits after looking over the display trucks on the HPI stand. The 2004 Reedy Race took place during the weekend also, and was literally right in front of our stand. We’re happy to report that three Mirage/HPI drivers (Andy Moore, Kevin Brusnden and Lee Woodhams) made the top 10 after the points were totalled!
The Max Bashing crew was in attendance as well and showed off the amazing capabilities of the HPI Savage trucks on the outdoor demo track. Also at the Model Expo were boat demonstrations, indoor airplane flights, model jet engines, several retailers selling models, machining equipment and various tools, plus of course all the various distributors that support the RC model hobby in the UK.

Featured HPI items included:

  • Sprint 2 – A brand new pre-assembled sport-level 1/10 touring car, updated with extra features and stronger chassis
  • Pro 4 and R40 – the top-level racing touring car models from the engineers at HPI
  • Savage monster truck – of course various Savage trucks were available for the public to see and touch, from the stock Savage 21 to a highly modified Savage SS
We’d like to thank the many people who made this such a great event for us: Bolton Models for providing customers with plenty of HPI kits and bodies, the HPI and Mirage Racing staff who attended the event, the HPI Racers who made it an exciting time on the track, Max Bashing for showing off for us on the outdoor jump, and of course we can’t forget the NEC for a great first Model Expo! If you didn’t make it this year, hopefully you’ll get to meet us in 2005!
