UPDATED: Ty Tessmann WINS Quebec Classic with D812 and D8T TE!

Ty Tessmann has battled against a strong international turnout at the Quebec Classic to win BOTH the buggy and truggy classes!

Former World, US and European Champions made their way to Quebec, a 9-hour trip from Ty's home of Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada, to do battle with the best off-road racers in North America!

Ty dominated the truggy class with his D8T Tessmann Edition, securing the TQ in all 3 rounds of qualifying! The story was almost the same in the nitro buggy class, TQing just 1 round of qualifying but setting the pole position overall.

Ty's dad, Gord, sent us this race report from the weekend:

This past weekend Ty attended the Quebec Classic in St. Etienne, Quebec Canada.  The whole crew in Quebec gave us a warm welcome and did a great job in making the race the best it could be.  Rain at the beginning of the week primed the track to make an excellent racing surface.  The track was a bit of a combination between Euro style and US style, with a lot of 180 turns.  During practice we were able to get the cars dialled in, having to make a few adjustments to the cars that we normally don’t do to make them rotate in all the 180 corners.  Qualifying in truck went extremely well and Ty was able to tq all 3 rounds of qualifying.  In buggy the competition was a lot closer with Ryan Cavelieri and Adam Drake each taking 1 TQ and Ty taking the other one, points came down to a tie between Ty and Adam which Ty would take based on laps and times, with Ryan qualifying 3rd.

The truggy main went very well with Ty and Adam pulling away initially, Adam made a few little mistakes increasing Ty’s lead, in the end Ty took the win by just over 2 laps.

The buggy class was run in the Ifmar ladder system, in the even semi which ran first Adam Drake took the win by a good margin with Savoya in 2nd, and in the odd semi Ty and cavelieri battled in the beginning but Ty eventually pulled away to give him the fastest overall time between the 2 semis, Ryan’s time would also be faster than Drakes which would set the grid for the main as Ty, Ryan, Adam and Reno, with a lot of local fast guys rounding out the grid.

In the buggy main the race was a lot more difficult, at the start of the main Ty and Ryan pulled away with Drake and Savoya making small mistakes giving Ty and Cavelieri a gap between themselves and 3rd.  Ty held the lead until the second pit stop, Ty pitted one lap before Ryan and after Ryan’s pitstop he came out just ahead of Ty to take the lead.  Ty pushed hard to try and get by for several laps having to back off several times, once getting into Ryan and waiting for him to regain the lead, Ty was finally able to take a beautiful inside pass to take back the lead, it began to rain lightly which made the race very interesting, the track became very loose since the surface was clay.  At this point Savoya seemed to have more traction than everyone else and he was closing the gap, it seemed like it was going to be an awesome finish to the race with Ty in the lead, Cavelieri in second and Savoya charging hard in 3rd.  Unfortunately with about 7 minutes to go it started to rain very heavily which made it dangerous to marshall and the race was called, with Ty in the lead he would take the win.
