RCHTA 1998:The National Model and Hobby ShowPage 2
Industry Awards for HPI Racing! The full staff of Radio Control Car Action and Air Age Publishing was on hand to offer a huge banquet and reception for all the winners of the 1998 Reader's Choice Awards and the editor's choices for Car and Truck of the Year. The selection of winners for Reader's Choice Awards represents a wide cross-section of R/C industry leaders and was a good showing of what the consumers really think. The staff of HPI is honored to have the RS4 Pro chosen as the R/C Car Action Reader's Choice Number-One Touring Car! The fact that a Touring Car category was added this year highlights that the touring car is an extremely popular part of the hobby, and by choosing the RS4 Pro, it shows that our customers appreciate a tough, tuneable car that is equally at home on the race track or street. Our Sales Manager David Kouche gave a short acceptance speech after accepting the trophy from Senior Editor Chris Chianelli.
After the presentations for the Reader's Choice Awards, the editors of R/C Car Action gave out the huge trophies for their selections of 1998 Car and Truck of the Year. HPI's General Manager Shawn Ireland gave a nice acceptance speech after being given the trophy by author Steve Pond. Shawn pointed out that the reason of HPI's success are the employees of HPI: we feel that we aren't necessarily coming to work, but to a place where we can have fun and still do our jobs. The friendly, family atmosphere is encouraged by our management, who often have their spouses and family stop by for lunch. Many of the people who work at HPI have good friends that work with them, which only contributes to the healthy atmosphere of the workplace. The wonderful trophies for the R/C Car Action Reader's Choice Number-One Touring Car and Editor's Choice Car of the Year are now in the HPI conference room, giving all of us inspiration to strive even harder to get the same honors next year!
We would like to thank the staff of R/C Car Action for their wonderful banquet and awards ceremony: Sharon Warner, Tom Atwood, Chris Chianelli, George Gonzalez, Peter Viera, Greg Vogel and Dana Donia. We also can't forget the rest of the staff who was in Chicago for the hobby show: Steve Pond, Siri Wheeler and photographer Walter Sidas. If we've forgotten anybody, sorry!
