HPI wins in Sweden! PROCAR OPEN 2002
Touringcars 1/10 in Modified and Stock. The PROCAR OPEN 2002 was the biggest race ever
held here in Sweden for Touringcars. PROCAR OPEN had about 100 racers that showed up for the race. The Modified class saw most participants with around 80 racers from Finland, Norway and Sweden and the Stock class, which otherwise by far is the most popular class at the National/local PTCC race in Sweden only had around 20 young/old racers from Sweden and Norway. (Stock has normally around 35-50 racers at the local races). PROCAR OPEN is like a autumn final on our PTCC series, which is the biggest and has the highest competition of all the series/classes in Sweden, both Modified and Stock.
In the Stock class we had some good names to look after like BIG John Lara the Norway Stock Champion and the Swedish drivers: Mattias Larsson, Alexander Andersson, Mattias Almqvist, Jonathan Book,Malin Hannich or old-timers like Jörgen Anderssson and Jonny Karlsson, they all can win the Stock race if they have a good day. At the practice and qualification in Stock we quickly found that many drivers can be a contender for the victory. But in the end Alexander Andersson (TC3/Advanced) took the TQ just before Mattias Larsson (TC3/LRP) on second place and Mattias Almqvist (Yokomo/LRP) on third followed by Jonathan Book (HPI/LRP) on fourth and Niklas Jacobsson (XXXS/LRP/PEAK) on fifth place. In the A-Mains that was very tuff against the cars, with nerves outside the shirts of this young (and old) boys/girls with very hard trigger fingers. After 3 A-mains Alexander Andersson (TC3/Advanced) secured the victory before Mattias Larsson (TC3/LRP) and Jonathan Book (HPI/LRP) on third place. Very well done all Stock drivers! The B-main winner in Stock was Peter Nilsson (Yokomo/LRP) with Rasmus Thulin (TC3/Advanced) as second. Modified: We had all kind of racers on the line, like the best from PTCC with Jonas Andersson, Viktor Wilck, Joel Myrberg (Andreas little brother), Mikael Fransson, Daniel Holmesten, Mikael Nilsson. From other series we had Gustav Dahlberg, Magnus/Erik Wässmar and Niklas Johansson. We also had the best from Norway like Helge Johannessen, Eirik Andreassen, Terje Rossmo, Martin Sörlie and Frode Skauen followed bye good drivers from Finland like Tommi Torikka, Jokku Termonen and Christer Andersson. In the practice we noticed that the best drivers had high 12 second lap times and we found Joel Myrberg, Jonas Andersson, Mikael Fransson, Gustav Dahlberg and Viktor Wilck in this time range some tenth of a second before the rest of the pack. It was still early in practice but maybe still an indication who is fast and who is not. Over to qualification
The battle for the victory in the modified A-main was not too exciting to watch because after the first corner Jonas Andersson and his HPI/PEAK/LRP car was gone and he never looked back to the rest of the boys. Second place and lower was on the other hand more interesting to watch. It was very close racing where Gustav Dahlberg (HPI/LRP) took second place after a very good run from fifth place on the grid. Followed by Joel Myrberg (HPI/LRP) on third place that also was very good from a guy who only have run RC cars for 1,5 years. On the fourth place we found Jokku Termonen (TC3/REEDY) and on fifth place we had Mikael Fransson with his X-Ray/LRP combo. The guy with the most bad luck in the A-main was Viktor Wilck (HPI/LRP) that was disqualified for a too wide wing in the first A-main, and this made him eight instead of on the podium as third. Winner of the B-main was Christer Andersson (TC3/REEDY) only 9 years old and a coming Champion trust me. Second in B-main from 17 qualification position was Jimmy Nilsson (HPI/LRP) followed by Alfred Widmark (TC3/Orion) on third.
C-main winner was Martin Sörlie Norway, Click here for the technical chart of the A main drivers! Thanks to all racers and congratulation to all winners and to the club MK Eskil for a good event. Best regards,
