Hello to all the HPI crew and gurus,
My name is Adrian Amjadi and i live in Torrance California, and this is my submission to the racers gallery. It is a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution V Rally RS4 in its WRC get up. I found out about this gallery a little while ago and used it as motivation to get back into r/c. I have learned alot in the couple of months on and off that i have worked on this car. I have found out how much i really missed r/c and how cool and fun this car is to drive.
I cant believe that i didnt drive this car the entire time i was away at school (would have been a good stress reliever!).
Anywho i started with very simple stock hand me down electronics, nothing special, and ya dont need rip roaring equipment to have a blast in the dirt!
first painted up the shell, including the big racing strips and many of the logos. Then i made some stickers and bought some to make the car exactly how i wanted it. Then i just went nuts and hand made everything you could imagine on the car from the wheels valve caps to the antennas on the roof.
Alot if not most of it is made from for sale signs, those things are made of fantastic plastic. The brake calipers were a challenge to keep in place while the rotors spun, but it finaly worked, and there are actually LED's behind the rotors that simulate glowing disks under extreme braking. When the car is set up for night driving those 8 headlights are silly wicked fun.
But the most fun came from snagging a cammera, learning how to take pics and setting the car on a piece of thick cardboard and saw horses and making a mock scene. The car is actually moving in each scene whether is held some what in place or travelling a very short distance, and as far as retouching goes it was used to mainly get rid of blemeshes that i didnt notice were there when i took the pic and some nifty enhancements. Funny thing is i really like photography now. And yes the car sees alot of action, even if half the damage was from taking the pics....what a riot! What a fantastic r/c i hope rally gets big!
take care
Adrian Amjadi
ps drive it like someone else bought it!
Webmaster's note: I almost didn't let this one through because, at first glance, I thought they were photos of a real Lancer... =P Great job!
