For the last weekend of October, HPI Racing headed over the Marathon, Greece, just outside of Athens, to be present at the Gymkhana GRiD European Gauntlet Final!
As the last event in the European Gymkhana GRiD calendar, it would bring together all of the fastest drift and barrel sprint racers from across Europe in one final, massive, flame-filled showdown!
Just like at recent World Rallycross events, the HPI crew set up a figure-8 style dirt track that just about fit a couple of Baja 5SC trucks on it. VIPs and race drivers would be able to get in a few practice laps and then do 3 fast laps - purely for bragging rights, of course!
After a day of shoveling, shifting tires and directing the digger driver...we had a track!
The first thing to do, of course, was to do some test driving on it...
It was super dusty and rocky, but it would do just fine! Now, all we needed was some Gymkhana GRiD drivers!
British barrel sprinter Adam Elder (center) was the first to put down a lap time, and other racers quickly followed!
Hadley Fullbrook put down a very quick time!
Ben and Alan Dryburgh from Scotland had a bit of a father-and-son race
