I have added a piece of Brass Tubing to my pull start string, this helps to keep the pull start from leaning against the motor after removing the body after a full run.
This also helps when the body is attached in not applying any additional pressure to the body. When I add the Brass Tubing to my Pull Start I use a Q-Tip to keep the string extended while the end knot is untied, to begin first cut one end of the Q-Tip at an angle...
Once you have cut the Q-Tip, slowly pull 12 inches on the Pull Start (do not exceed your motors suggested length when starting or you may risk damaging your Pull Start) and wedge the Q-Tip between the string and rubber extension tubing and slowly release the Pull Start ensuring the line is not being retracted back into the Pull Start...
Once the string has been wedged you can now untie the end knot on the Pull Start string, remove the handle and place the Brass Tubing on the string followed by replacing the handle back on the String...
After tying the knot back into the end of the string, pull the knot and handle snugly ensuring the knot keeps the handle on the string followed by removing the Q-Tip and slowly allowing the Pull Start string to retract back all the way...
This method works very well for me when I need to do anything with my Pull Start string knot untied at the end. |
