What: Reach for the Sky Cancer Camp

Where: YMCA Camp Marston, in Julian CA
Why: To help teach kids how to have some FUN with RC cars.

Wednesday, July 7th 2010 marked a day of creating fun for some children that face the terrible disease of cancer. HPI Racing and Hot Bodies teamed up with Krazy Kevin's Hobby Shop at the YMCA Camp Marston in Julian, California. The day started at 7am, already you could hear the chanting and cheering of the 100+ kids attending the week long camp, kids cheering at 7 am? You know its going to be a good day!!!

Setting up a track and getting some HPI Blitz trucks ready, definitely created some attention. The goal of the day was to show kids the Full Experience of HAVING FUN with remote control cars. As the first group of 12 kids arrived at the "HPI/ Krazy Kevin's RC Experience," you could see the joy that the kids had, just by looking at them. The kids that attended were ages ranging from 8-18.  The kids got lots of time behind the wheel of the HPI Blitz's. Each group got 10 minutes of learning and 50 minutes of track time on their own racing against their fellow campers.

After a few groups of kids came and played, lunch came around..... Toward the end of lunch, the HPI Racing and Krazy Kevin's team were recognized as being NEW to the camp, and oh Boy! Do they have an initiation for the new people! They gave us a warm welcome and then began chanting as loud as  possible "WE WONT SHUT UP UNTIL YOU SKIP AROUND THE ROOM, WE WONT SHUT UP UNTIL YOU SKIP AROUND THE ROOM WE WONT SHUT UP UNTIL YOU SKIP AROUND THE ROOM!!!!!"  And as it said, they didn't stop until there were some HPI and Krazy Kevin people skipping around the room. So not only did HPI, Hot Bodies, and Krazy Kevin's show some kids a fun time, but the kids also had their own ways to have other people how to have a fun time.

After lunch the groups of kids started getting bigger and bigger, rounding out the day the faces of kids and their smile was all that you could see.  Knowing that you could put a smile on 100+ kids is one of the greatest and most successful feelings anyone can have. At the end of the day, after all 100+ kids had driven a HPI Blitz, comes the damage report. With the durability of the HPI Blitz and over 100 + battery packs later,  their was not a single broken part on any vehicles. WHAT A SUCESS!!
