The Crawler King is a very capable truck but with this project we wanted to see what it was capable of with just a few small in house Mods. We pulled a few key parts from the warehouse and they made a huge difference. With most crawlers the tires are a huge thing. While the stock Crawler King tires do a great job or getting over the rough stuff Hot Bodies Rover tires are class leading and the choice of top crawler world wide. The HB Rover has the ability to grab onto any terrain loose or hard pack and with rubber compounds so soft they will dig into slickest of surfaces.

The stock springs were ditched in and effort to free up the front with a softer spring that would let the truck articulate more and a stiffer rear spring that will keep the weight on the front tires. Along with the springs we added lead weights around the rim of the front wheel to increase the traction of the truck.

Steering was improved by removing the stock servo saver and going to a traditional steering arm. Now this is a great mod as it will let the servo work to its full potential but at the same time it can damage a servo if you hit something very hard.

Radio equipment was upgraded to a Spektrum DX3S due to its tuneability and the fact we would not need to worry about interference from other drivers.

These few mods made the truck much more capable and increased its ability to climb, reach full articulation, and impress some of the hardcore crawler guys in the area.
