Nitro Championship Series Report! First event, first class success. From the very beginning of hte free practice sessions, everyone could see how hard the competition was going to be. In the top class, the Monster MT2 class, 13 drivers fought against eachother for the top spots. In the qualifying sessions, the lap times were insanely close with Roberto Herrera in pole position, Jaime Herrera in the 2nd spot and Team Monster Energy driver Diego Duez in 3rd. Winning the two first heats after a fierce battle was Roberto Herrera. In the final lap, the battle was insane! Diego Duez was leading the race, holding down Roberto Herrera. Contact between these two took Diego out of the battle and in the final laps, Team D-Hobby/HPI sponsored driver Jorge Herrera won the final. After combining the results of hte 3 heats, the champion was Roberto Herrera, with Federico Fanhalen in 2nd place and Giovanni the Merchis in 3rd. The champion went home with his hands full! He won a trip to any national or international destination in a 5 star hotel thanks to Traveller Club. He also won HPI and Hot Bodies merchandise as well as Monster Energy Drink merchandise and Radilogico and Beraka prizes. All the drivers in the top 3 went home full handed. In the Libre class, Diego Duez dominated with his HPI MT2 in a race made up of nearly all Traxxas Revo 3.3s. Mechanical failure gave the win to Gerardo Obregon in his Revo 3.3. Diego Duez finished 2nd because he couldn't race in the final. Final results: Monster MT2 class 13 vehicles on the track Libre class 10 vehicles on the track Over 300 spectators, television coverage, newspaper and radio were there covering the event. D-Hobby Nitro Championship Series presented by Monster Energy Drink Mexico. This January 31st, D-Hobby and D-Hobbies bring you the best RC championship to ever exist in Mexico. Supported by Monster Energy Drink Mexico, Diego Duez, Mexican dealer of HPI Racing products has created a top-notch championship with high standards both for competition and fair play for all drivers. This first tournament consists of two main categories: Monster MT2: All drivers having a RTR MT2 with no modifications out of the box may run this category which is going to be the starting point for the whole 2010 Monster MT2 Championship. Some of the drivers competing this year have already proven their ability in the local pre season training such as Team D-Hobbies' Factory Driver Jorge Herrera, Federico Fanhalen, Roberto Herrera and current NASCAR Mexico driver for motorcraft racing Irwin Vences. Also competing will be Diego Duez who has recently raced in the official VW Works Jetta TDI Cup car in the Mexican endurance series. The "Libre" category is going to be run with many brands of RC offroad trucks and some of the drivers in the MT2 category have shown interest in racing in this class too to show the potential and winning power of the NItro MT2 against all brands of vehicles. As a reward for proving their ability, the top 3 places in each category will receive top notch merchandise from HPI, HotBodies and Monster Energy Drink as well as trophies and other prizes. Diego Duez spoke about this first time ground breaking series: "I'm very faithful in all M drivers and the organization. I'm also proud I made the right choice in the MT2.
