Hpi's John Schultz and Andy H visited the Supercross 2010 Season Opener, Anaheim #1 this past weekend. It was an awesome warm sunny Southern California day to check out everything MX at the expansive space that is Angel's Stadium. We first checked out the pits and along the way ran into Ivan Iron Man Stewart and Josh Grant at the Toyota booth, Mr Motorcross Himself Roger de Coster at Rockstar Makita Suzuki, the lovely Ashley Fiolek at Honda Redbull and somewhere behind all the gathered masses at the Yamaha pits was the reigning Supercross Champion James Stewart! hpi goodies were spotted in the Rockstar/Hart and Huntington pits and the Jesse Rooke booths that both featured some sick body wraps by Upgrade RC!
With James Stewart on top form throughout practice and qualifying it was looking like Stewart might just ride off into the night and take his first win in the main event. Apparently somone forgot to tell Rockstar Makita Suzuki's Ryan Dungey of the scirpt as he led and even pulled away from Stewart from the start. By lap 15 it look liked Dungey might just win it....that is until lap 17 when Stewart dug deep..closed the gap and passed Dungey to take the lead. But it was far from over as Dungey battled Stewart all the way to the last corner...then made a slight bobble..which allowed Stewart to take the hard fought win to kick off his 2010 Season with a win!
