August 1, 2009 was the second day of a 3-day invasion of Subaru's in So Cal. Day 1 was Rally-X practice for X Games 15, and most local Subaru owners were there to cheer on their favorite drivers as they slid their all wheel drive machines within inches of concrete barriers smoking all four tires.

But Day-2 was different, Subaru put on an owner appreciation day event called “The Subaru WRX Games” to let current owners drive the new 2010 Legacy and 09 WRX. Along with letting us spin the tires a bit in their cars Subaru also set up a R/C car track and booth containing 10 HPI Sprint 2 Subaru's which were set up for the rough tarmac at Pomona Fairplex parking lot. All attendees had the chance to challenge their friends and family to do battle through the HPI Road course, fast time of the day was actually set by Chelsea Taylor who was driving an Orange 06 WRX.

As the day continued Wahoo's Fish Tacos showed up and hooked us up with some great food and drinks.... but then the real treat came.

Subaru factory driver Ken Block showed up between his busy schedule at the X Games, and his trusty sidekick, the 500+ HP Subaru WRX STI also showed up. As the suspense grew hundreds crowded closer and closer to the fence waiting to see his car, and then.......well I could go on and tell you about the 100 MPH slides and the countless tires he burned up but I think that part would be better left to the pictures.
