Dustin Richards @ The 2008 Wisconsin Off-Road Championship

Report by Dustin Richards

What drags racers to a hobby shop and track Milwaukee Wisconsin to experience inches of snow and sub zero temps?
It was the Wisconsin Off-road Champs run at the World famous S&N Trackside Hobbies and Raceway owned by Scotty Ernst.

The format of this race was practice Friday with 3 quals on Sat and a 4th qual and mains on Sun. The Qual points system was used to ensure a fair playing field for all the classes. Here is the race report on how it all went down.

I entered 2wd and 4wd mod. My 4wd Hot Bodies Cyclone D4 World Championship edition felt very good from the start. After changing a camber link and figuring out the tire additives the car was ready to place in the show. However it was not going to be easy with talent like Scott Brown, Chad Due, Brandon Rohde, and more. It was sure to be fun to watch.

Friday was a great day of practice with the track open from 10AM to 8PM. My hats off to the entire Trackside crew for all their hard work on the track keeping the conditions consistent and fast. Not enough can be said about the great attitudes of the crew and racers there making everyone feel welcome.

In 4wd I had a top 8 run every round placing me one of the 8 in the show. On the grid of the A Main I started 6th. After some first corner carnage I found myself 3rd and maintained that position for most of the race. However a hard charging driver from 4th who was behind me the entire race capitalized when it mattered. I cased the triple getting on the straight on the last turn of the last lap. This made my final finishing position 4th in the 4wd Mod A Main.

I would like to thank everyone who supported me for this race

Rodney Wills at HPI-Hot Bodies USA

And Blake Cannon at 707Paint.net for the dialed graphics

The next big race for me is the Midwinter Champs in Columbus Ohio.
