JBRL HB Arrive & Drive Series [Round #1] - Hemet RC Track
June 15th 2008
It’s fathers day… 6:30am. We hit the block of Hemet RC Track and we already know it’s going to be a long day as cars and mostly trucks even with the expensive fuel cost, all sorts of vehicles line both sides of the streets, a sign that the parking lot has gone over capacity! While I personally know Jimmy Babcock has a well attended race series, today I would gain a new respect for Jimmy’s audacity, for a lack of better words…
While Jimmy is fierce yet friendly in how he runs his events, there are a lot of pieces that come into play when tackling an event and Jimmy is not afraid of any bullish situation especially when Jimmy is hosting this round of his event series at Hemet RC Track and has the Rosales brothers at his side. Tony and Rudy Rosales own the track formerly known as The Dirt, now call Hemet RC Track played host to the JBRL Nitro Challenge along with the HB Arrive and Drive Series – all in ONE DAY!
I said audacity before, try EIGHTEEN HEATS and NINTY-DEGREE HEAT, all rolled into ONE-DAY! With 18-heats and 23-mains this is usually reserved for two-three day events! Jimmy run’s events so smooth and constantly minding the clock, while the event ran a little long in the day, it was Fathers Day! And a day well spent by many doing their favorite past time – RACING!
The Dirt, while previously owned by Joey AKA Joey of The Dirt, he is still active with Rosales brothers as he performed his magic with a complete track layout change the Thursday before the event. In the world of R/C off-road, I do not know how to rate tracks, but this is one cool track with giant berm’s, big woops, little woops and a massive step-up that is all air down the backside into a bowl with both a turn and another jump thrown in middle. Just think MX super-cross!
PS: With Jeremy Felles of Hot Bodies doing double-duty helping with the HB Arrive and Drive car prep and maintenance and rocking the microphone with Jimmy, it was the added extra spice that Jeremy delivered during the final heat that was AWESOME. But it was the super-competitive racing that allowed Jeremy to get so wound up on the mic!!!
We would like to thank FUTABA for their support of the HB Arrive and Drive Series as the drives use 2.4GHz FASST Radio systems exclusively for both 2007 and 2008.
