Event: Formula D Finals @ Irwindale Speedway, Irwindale, CA Date: October 13, 2007 Words: Collin Cocores Pics: Jay Ebue, Rodney Wills, and Collin Cocores This year’s Formula D Finals were held yet again at Irwindale Speedway, or more commonly known as “The House of Drift” to all the sideways fans. This was the very final round of seven, with drivers from all over competing for that coveted Formula Drift trophy, the cold hard cash, and the bragging rights! And in case you didn’t know, Formula D is the largest North American drift series that has helped take the drifting scene by storm, with a total over 60 professional, die-hard drifters that will leave you screaming for more. HPI Racing couldn’t pass up the offer to get in on the intense drifting action, as they made it out for the second year in a row, hitting it in full force yet again. They pulled out all the goods; the full-on HPI tent, complete with tons of drifting eye candy for everyone to see and drool over, and also complete backing from the Touge Nights drift crew. A complete 1/10-scale drift course was also setup, and available for use to anyone that brought their drift car, or if you simply wanted to scope out the action. The HPI booth saw non-stop action from spectators and competitors alike, as they all awed over the attention to detail while the cars sat static, and also on just how much these cars can lay it down in their own drift sessions. If you missed out on this one, don’t worry! Check out all of the pics from the event, and keep your eyes peeled for HPI at the next event!
