HPI Track Day

The crew from HPI Racing reserved the Streets of Willow racing facility in Willow Springs, California, for the official USA press introduction the HPI Racing Impreza in its native environment…flat-out on a race track! Several R/C and real car magazines attended the fun event, shooting photos and gathering technical details about the HPI Subaru. HPI flew in professional racing driver Kazuhiro Koizumi from Japan to drive the car, fresh off a win in the Super Taikyu racing series the weekend before. Professional driver/instructor Danny McKeever from Fast Lane Racing School was also at the event to give rides in the HPI Racing Impreza and to provide helpful driving instruction. Plus, the track was open so that the editors could drive their own cars around the exciting Streets of Willow race track. HPI set up their bright tent and provided cold drinks to keep the editors cool and comfortable during the hot day at the track. On display were several HPI R/C cars and trucks, including a ready-to-run 1/10th scale replica of the HPI Racing Impreza (#10034, RTR Nitro RS4 3 Evo with HPI Racing Impreza Body).

The HPI Subaru is a full-scale racing car that competed in eight Super Taikyu endurance races in 2004, including a grueling 24 hour race at Tokachi Speedway, and events at famous tracks like Twin Ring Motegi and Suzuka. The high-output turbocharged Subaru "boxer" engine powers a 4 wheel drive chassis with state-of-the-art racing suspension, full safety cage, massive Brembo brakes and lightweight carbon fiber aero parts. Bright and bold HPI Racing graphics make the HPI Subaru a real stand-out on the track, and help promote the R/C hobby to millions of racing fans.
