HPI Racing is proud to announce sponsorship of the Extreme Team Savage Ride Truck. This full sized monster truck travels around America to monster truck events, fairgrounds and promotional events. At the events, the Extreme Team Savage Ride Truck gives spectators a chance to experience a ride in a real monster truck. The truck is a specially modified monster truck that has seating for 10 in the truck bed and 4 more in the cabin, riding on huge Goodyear tires and powered by a Ford 460 Cubic Inch V8 engine. The rides are often on the same track that is used for competition, giving a thrill to the lucky fans and a new perspective of what it's like inside the truck instead of being stuck in the crowd.
Mac and Liz Plecker are the owners of the truck and campaign it around the country. The new sponsorship from HPI Racing brings bright Savage graphics to the truck, the custom paint job is an exact replica of the Savage 25 R/C monster truck. To help add excitement, HPI will provide several Savage 25 trucks that will be raffled at events throughout the year. The first winner has already been announced from a contest at www.truckworld.com and more giveaways will be coming soon. For people interested in finding out more about R/C racing, HPI catalogs and literature are always available at the events.
The promotional tie-ins are strong, monster truck events have become incredibly popular, events are frequently sold out and crowds of 10,000 to 20,000 are common. On a busy weekend hundreds of people get the chance to ride in the Extreme Team Savage Ride Truck. And, many of the spectators are already into R/C racing, so it's common for many fans to instantly recognize the HPI Savage sponsorship. Promoting the R/C industry at this kind of event attracts attention that all R/C manufacturers and hobby shops can benefit from.
HPI Racing had the Extreme Team Savage Ride Truck on display for the recent RCX Hobby Show in Anaheim, California. Thousands of fans took photos of the truck, climbed on it, and a few lucky people even got rides. While in California, Mac and Liz stopped by the HPI factory and gave rides to the entire HPI staff, rumbling up the driveway of our neighbors at Oakley.
HPI will follow the Savage Ride Truck as it tours in 2004, check www.hpiracing.com frequently to see the latest photos and videos.

The ability to control the truck while in flight is an important skill to master. It can help shave seconds off lap times or more importantly, help prevent damage to the truck caused by hard, awkward landings. In mid air, you can make the nose of the Savage point up to the sky by pressing the throttle. Applying the brake will do the opposite, making the nose point down to the ground. The goal is to keep the truck level in flight to prevent damage. Note: Extreme jumping may damage the truck, start small and work you way up.
