These tips come from
some of the HPI Racing staff that have assembled the kit, and should help
out anybody who may be having a problem building the kit. The instructions
for the RS4 MT are widely considered the easiest to understand of all
the HPI kits, so there should not be very many questions.
This page has the
newest tips listed first, with the date noted next to it.
Many of the tips in
the future will have thumbnail photos of what to do, where to put a part,
etc. If you click on one of these thumbnails, you will download a larger
(5 to 6 inches across, 40K to 80K) photo of the process involved with
the tip.
In order to make switching
between the regular and short wheelbase easier, you can use the screw
hingepins to tap out both sides of the rear suspension arms. You can do
the same with the shock mounting holes, so you don't strain too hard in
the pits when you need to change your shock positions. (12/16/97)
Be sure to drill holes
in the rims or poke the mounted tires with a hobby knife in order to let
air out. This lets the tires conform to the track surface better, and
will give you more grip than if the tires were sealed. If you decide to
drill holes in the rims, use a small (1/16" or 1/8") drill bit,
and drill two holes on opposite sides of the wheel. The chrome plating
process can cover up the holes that are already present in the wheels,
so we suggest making two holes in each wheel, each one opposite the other.
