Step 25

Spray motor cleaner spray on a rag and wipe down the rear deck and upper deck.

Clean the bottom of the speed controller and receiver as well.

Attach the ESC in a place where you won't need to move it from. If you are using the Dodge Viper body, the rear deck is the best place unless you have one of the micro-size speed controllers. In this case, we are mounting the micro-size ESC on the rear deck. Use the antenna post as a guide in mounting the ESC along the center line of the upper deck or rear deck.

Use a double thickness of servo tape on the bottom of the receiver.

Using the antenna post as a guide again, center the receiver as closely as possible on the upper deck, just above the battery pack.

Now it's time to attach the wires to the ESC.

Reversing 4-wire ESCs are easiest to wire up, just follow the instructions to find out which wire does what. You will have a positive and negative wire for both the motor and battery, for a total of four. We recommend using the the wires and plugs provided in the kit, although you can use any connectors you like on the car. Below we show the kit plugs soldered onto a reversing speed controller.

Route the wires using the cutouts in the chassis and the nylon zip ties provided with the kit and your ESC.

When mounting your antenna tube, you can safely wrap the excess wire around the antenna mount.
