Once again, Atsushi Hara takes the win at the 2004 ROAR Fuel Sedan
On-Road Nationals! With other former World Champions and top-level
American racers on the track, it was up to Hara and his HPI R40 to
defend their 2003 National Champion title, and they did just that!
After qualifying in 3rd position, the one-hour A Final started with
Josh Cyrul in the lead, Barry Baker in second and Hara in third
position. Immaculate driving by Hara and superb pitwork by HPI R&D
Test Driver Thad Garner (pit stops in less than 4 seconds!!) helped
Hara pick up positions as drivers succumbed to the pressure of
Hara’s driving. For 40 minutes Hara traded positions with past
World Champ Mike Swauger, until Mike fell out close to the end with
a bad receiver pack. Hara then had a half lap advantage over Mike
Blackstock and took another ROAR National title! Atsushi Hara used
the latest HPI lightweight option parts on his R40, including the
new 0.8M two-speed, lightweight shafts and more. See your
local model shop to order these parts!
