Vaughn Gittin Jr - and HPI! - Visit the Midlands Drift Society!

Tue, 24th October 2017

This past weekend, we had the honor to visit the busy Midlands Drift Society near Tamworth, England!

A well-established drift club that meets up at least once a month throughout the year, MDS has been at the forefront of RC drifting in the United Kingdom for a short time, but with members from 3 very active drift teams, it can count on up to 50 visitors every month from all over the country.

Seven dedicated RC hobbyists spend many hours every month helping run their own teams (Yokomuki RC, Trampdrift RC and Outcast Drifters) as well as organizing meetings for the club.

Several of the club's members have been involved with the RC Drift Worlds, placing quite highly in the overall standings - one member was the highest qualified British driver in the RWD category and another is a 2-time British RC drifting champion!

Every time they meet, the club spend several hours on a Saturday morning setting up a detailed and fun scale drifting arena, complete with a salvage parts yard, fast food restaurant, gas station, mechanic's garages, show'n'shine area and more, with a sweeping "touge" style drift track winding its way between the areas.

The driving layout changes every time, to give regular members a wide variety of driving experiences as well as different challenges at every meeting. For advanced drivers, there are clipping points and apexes to hit all around the course.

For the more casual or beginner drivers, it's enough to drive on a fantastic scale track and soak up the knowledge of the "pro" guys - and trade parts and bodies, of course!

So what were we doing there? Getting some awesome footage of the upcoming RS4 Sport 3 Drift featuring Vaughn Gittin Jr's Mustang RTR Spec 5

You'll be able to see the result really soon! We'd like to thank Matt and all of the club members of the Midlands Drift Society for their friendly welcome and the use of the above photos from the club's Facebook page! Check them out here:
