The 'On Your Marks' day began over 9 years ago when an Asda employee, Mark Higginbottom, was unfortunately diagnosed with lymphatic cancer. A successful fund raising day for his family was organised by colleagues and held at Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground. A fund raising day has been held at this venue every year since, and has raised over £171,000 for charity.
This event is by invitation only and No Limit RC UK was invited to participate in'On Your Marks' by Chris Goodwin, who saw No Limit's demo at SWMEE earlier in the year. No Limit's area was next to the Bolddog Lings Freestyle MX Stunt team and backed on to the race track, so we were close to all the action. Instead of a car or two, No Limit had a stack of pallets to jump with the HPI Baja 5B's and 5SC's, arranged (with the help of a forklift) into a star shape, which made the No Limit Baja show quite interesting, with a good few 'fountain' jumps resulting from this formation, which went down well with the spectators. It was warm and sunny on Saturday, so the crowds arrived in their thousands. All proceeds go to charity. Visitors could drive an Asda truck & trailer, JCB or coach around a 4 ½ mile circuit, be a passenger in a FAST road car or be driven around a rally stage, take a helicopter or hovercraft ride, drive a go-kart. There was a car and motorbike stunt display in the main arena plus the Vander Bros. Millenium Wheel Walking spectacular. Another highlight was a 9 litre V8 powered JCB wheelie-ing down the race track at 100 mph – stunning. Numerous air performances included Breitling Wing Walkers; WW2 Mustangs, a Spitfire, CAP 232 and Vans RV8's aerobatic displays. A big bonus was a three-times low flypast by the only still-flying Vulcan Bomber. A non-stop, really exciting, happy event. Thank you, Chris, for inviting No Limit to be part of your fund raising day. Next show for No Limit RC UK is Rallyday.com!
