Last weekend was the second HPI Challenge & Bash Party for UK fans, with HPI owners from around the country showing up to once again talk with fellow HPI owners and fans, meet HPI staff members, drive their cars and trucks around an enormous off-road track and sample a huge range of HPI vehicles! This time, the meeting place was the Notts-Derby Off Road club just outside of Nottingham, otherwise known as 'NDOR'! This club is home to 3 different tracks, the largest of which is the absolutely gigantic 1/8th and large scale off-road track, which is flanked by two different paved oval tracks.
The day kicked off around 9 AM with the setup of the HPI-HB gazebo and pulling out over a dozen different demonstration vehicles and loads of display cars. HPI owners started showing up to chat about all things HPI, and very quickly things got busy out on the massive NDOR track!
Although racing was on the schedule, everyone was more interested in just driving the track, which took several full runs to get used to. There were so many different sections of the track, each with their own personality consisting of jumps, ruts, obstacles and tricks, that the temptation to run one section over and over until you got it just right was very high - but with a dozen or more cars on the track at any time, you had to keep going and just try to learn a bit more about that section on the next lap!
The entire HPI UK support team was on hand, so anyone who had an issue with their buggy or truck were well-received and quickly sorted out. Multiple Savage XL Octanes were on hand, driving the track and avoiding each other - the noise on the track was incredible!
Several players from the football club next door came round to sample the cars, with the junior players having loads of fun driving the Vorza!
The weather wasn't doing us any favors, with a not-very-friendly forecast keeping away many people who otherwise would have made the trip, but we want to extend a huge THANK YOU to all the brave HPI fans who did attend, and we hope to meet up with you once again at a future event!
Everyone at HPI would like thank Tim and all of the members of the Notts-Derby Off Road club for their hospitality, help and enthusiasm - we couldn't have had the day we had without you all!
