HPI USA Engine Exchange Program

This exchange is for North American customers only. If you are located outside of North America, please contact your nearest HPI branch or HPI distributor for information about their exchange policy. HPI USA does not ship overseas for exchange engines.

You can send in any manufacturer's engine, not just HPI engines, working or non-working, along with your payment to take advantage of this engine exchange program. You may trade in small block engines for HPI small block engines, small or big block engines for HPI Big Block engines, and HPI Fuelie engines for a replacement/upgrade HPI Fuelie engine.

• The engine that you send in does not have to run and may be disassembled.
• Damaged parts are acceptable (broken head fins, broken pullstarter, broken con rod, etc.).
• It should be as complete as possible (no missing con rod, pullstarter, carb, head, etc.)
• Remove any mounts, flywheel/clutch, exhaust and air filter before mailing the engine to us.
• California residents must add 8.75% state sales tax to the total.

The engine that you receive will be BRAND NEW. We will not send you a rebuilt or remanufactured engine.

 When sending in your engine for upgrade, please be sure to include:
1) Your old complete engine. Remove engine mounts, flywheel and clutch, exhaust and air filter.

2) Correct payment (cashier’s check, money order, Visa or Mastercard). Do not send personal checks or cash.

3) Daytime phone number and return shipping address No P.O. Boxes Please (VERY IMPORTANT).

4) Completed exchange form (below). Please print clearly.

5) When sending in your engine to HPI for exchange we highly recommend that you chose a shipping method that has a tracking method and package insurance. UPS and Federal Express shipping includes package tracking, and the US Post Office offers Delivery Confirmation if you ship the package from the Post Office.

6) Any packages lost in shipping to HPI are the responsibility of the sender.

How long does it take for Customer Service to send out my new engine?
We try our best to process orders as soon as they come in, most of the time in stock engine exchanges are processed within two days of receiving them. If the engine you are exchanging for is out of stock, we will call you to let you know the approximate time frame we expect it to ship. All return shipments on engine exchanges are sent Ground, so delivery time may vary. HPI USA is in California, so ground shipping from the East Coast can take around 5 days in each direction. The closer you are to California the quicker the item will be returned. Canadian customers: international customs can sometimes delay the delivery by a few days. We don't work on weekends and holidays, so if you want to calculate the time it takes your engine exchange please consider our weekend/holiday schedule.
