Race Report from Andy Moore, RedRC & LRP Round 2 of the hugely popular ETS series took place in Scandiano, Italy. This round saw a record breaking 300 entries!! The carpet track for the this event was a little smaller and had a more technical feel to it than we usually have for the ETS tracks, but still everyone was happy with the flow.
During practice I concentrated on finding an easy to drive balance as I knew the key on this layout would be a fault-free run! Qualifying In Round 1 I was able to get a clean run although not yet finding the perfect setup I was able to pick up a 5th in round. In Round 2 I changed rear shock position to try and make the rear more stable, which worked but I had 2 small rolls costing me a couple of places, I finished 8th. Knowing I had pretty much secured an A main spot, I used round 3 and 4 to try some bigger changes and close the gap to the top 3. In these runs I changed to thicker diff oil (2000) and shorter camber links. Both gave an overall feel of more traction. Main Events Starting from 8th on the grid was especially difficult on this layout and unfortunately in both the first and second main I was caught up in other people's tangles and was left way behind before I could really get going. Finishing 8th and 7th respectively really didn't show how good the HB TCX car is now. In the final main I got a break at the start and was able to get out of the first lap in 4th and able to comfortably hold that position to the end. Giving me 6th overall. Also doing very well and getting into another ETS A Final was Dominik Fleischmann with his LRP-powered HB TCX! Congratulations, Dominik! Pro-Stock Results for Team HB! LRP and new HB team driver Steffen Leinburger from Germany did extremely well with his HB TCX, taking the win for his first ever ETS victory! Steffen finished in the lead in the first and second races of the A Finals, and is presently in a confident third place going into the next ETS round. This is coming after winning the stock class at the DHI Cup earlier this year - it looks like this could shape up to be a big year for the young German driver! Fellow German Oliver Franke finished 5th, 2nd and 3rd from 5th place on the grid to secure third overall, placing two HB TCX cars on the podium in Pro-Stock! We're all looking forward to the next race, to be held the weekend of the 4th of March, in Gran Canaria, Spain! For more detailed race results and lots of racing videos, click here to visit RedRC!
