Hara and the R40 successfully defend their US National Championship!

Once again, Atsushi Hara takes the win at the 2004 ROAR Fuel Sedan On-Road Nationals! With other former World Champions and top-level American racers on the track, it was up to Hara and his HPI R40 to defend their 2003 National Champion title, and they did just that! After qualifying in 3rd position, the one-hour A Final started with Josh Cyrul in the lead, Barry Baker in second and Hara in third position. Immaculate driving by Hara and superb pitwork by HPI R&D Test Driver Thad Garner (pit stops in less than 4 seconds!!) helped Hara pick up positions as drivers succumbed to the pressure of Hara’s driving. For 40 minutes Hara traded positions with past World Champ Mike Swauger, until Mike fell out close to the end with a bad receiver pack. Hara then had a half lap advantage over Mike Blackstock and took another ROAR National title!

Atsushi Hara used the latest HPI lightweight option parts on his R40, including the new 0.8M two-speed, lightweight shafts and more. See your local model shop to order these parts!

Option parts used on Hara's ROAR winning R40!
33406 - Diff Gear Set (R40 4 Bevel Gear)
This set has the 4 bevel gear modification, which makes the car more stable under hard acceleration.
33407 - Aluminum Hex Hub Clamp Type (6mm/4pcs)
These are official HPI factory option parts, designed to the exact car dimensions and team tested for maximum performance.
72170 - Threaded Aluminum Shock Set (45-56mm)
The same shocks as featured on our Proceed 1/8 scale car. Uses threaded shock bodies, adjustment collars with o-rings, Teflon shock pistons, stainless steel shock shafts, clear silicone o-rings, shock bladders, blue linear springs and our #6818 plastic shock parts tree. Threaded shock bodies allow racers to make very fine adjustments to their car. We don't suggest using threaded shock bodies without a tweak board or setup gauges. Used for touring cars and Super Nitro RS4 cars only.
73089 - Front Shock Tower A (Woven Graphite/R40)
Machined from 3mm woven graphite, provides extra shock mounting holes.
73090 - Rear Shock Tower A (Woven Graphite/R40)
Machined from 3mm woven graphite, provides extra camber and shock mounting holes. Lays down rear shocks for extra side grip while cornering. Includes necessary hardware.
73924 - Light Weight Super Chassis (3mm 7075/Gun Metal)
Stiffer and stronger 3mm 7075S aluminum with bevels and cutouts, 20g lighter than standard chassis.
87173 - Light Weight 2 Speed Transmission Set (0.8M)
This is a "must have" item for R40 owners who compete in race events, and is highly recommended by our team drivers.
Z368 - Titanium Screw Set
New from HPI Racing is this complete Titanium Screw Set for the back-to-back National Champion HPI R40 Nitro touring car. Racers know that titanium screws are one of the best ways to reduce weight without sacrificing strength.
