2001 HPI CHALLENGE - INTRODUCTION
Welcome to the second full year of HPI Challenge competition for the United States! We are proud to say we had over 700 total participants in 2000, during 7 separate races, and we look forward to meeting even more HPI fans and owners in the year to come.

NEW CHALLENGES
This year's goal is to reach 150 racers at each of four events that we will hold throughout the country. We will accomplish this with aggressive marketing long before each race date, numerous magazine articles in the three major US R/C magazines, more classes for everyone to race in, great prizes for all participants and four paid trips to this year's HPI Challenge World Finals, which will be held in Europe this year!

GREAT PRIZES
Every racer that attends an HPI Challenge race gets great prizes, including a unique HPI hat and top-quality HPI body. Top racers in each class also get plaques or trophies!

SAME LOW ENTRY FEE
Just $15 per class is all that's needed to participate and have fun! We encourage racers to enter as many classes as possible - the point is to have fun, after all! You get two full days of racing, a free HPI body and a free HPI hat. There is a $10 late fee for signups that are postmarked 3 weeks before the race date.

NEW CLASSES
New classes for this year include the RS4 Electric Pro class, which will introduce modified motors to the HPI Challenge USA series. Previously, only 24 degree ROAR-legal stock motors were legal, however stock motors will be for the RS4 Electric Stock class only, with any type of ROAR-legal modified motor allowed in the RS4 Electric Pro class.

Exhibition classes this year include RS4 Electric Rally, RS4 Super Nitro Rally and HPI Truck (4WD and/or 2WD)! These classes will not be eligible for the HPI Challenge World Finals, however we will make these classes available to race in if enough participants arrive. See the HPI Challenge USA Rules page for details on these new classes, and what may have changed in the classes that you are familiar with.

Novice Racers: Please don't worry about racing against experienced racers - at HPI races, everyone walks away with a big smile and plenty of free stuff!

EXTRA GEAR
In addition to your car and race gear, you may want to bring a canopy if you have one. We advise you to call ahead or post a question in our R/C Forum so you know what type of conditions to prepare for. Some racers prepare for no AC power (for example, charge your practice batteries the night before and consider plugs for your battery and motor). Some of our tracks will have plenty of AC power available for battery charging. The rules and track are set up so that anybody can have fun and still be competitive. Awards will be given to the top finishers in each main event, and everyone gets plenty of free HPI decals! That's all, see you at the race!
