Qualifying started right after the Concours event at around noon on Saturday, April 29. Check out our pictures of the racing action!

The track was designed more for beginners, with a flowing racing line that wasn't too hard to follow, but there were a couple of tight chicanes that kept everyone on their toes! Rob did a great job of balancing the design to challenge both new and experienced racers.

The first class to run were the Electric RS4 racers, with mostly RS4 Pro 2 cars and quite a few RS4 conversions and at least one RS4 Rally! There were several first-time racers in the Electric RS4 class, but the better drivers did a great job of getting around them to get their best qualifying time. Scott Boggs and Chris Jeffries, along with Concours winner Scott Kovalik, set the early pace, and qualified as the top three in the Electric RS4 class.

The Box Stock Nitro RS4 had just as many racers as the electric class, with nearly 30 racers competing for the big trophy and kit! Local racer John Wong set the TQ early with clean driving and a competent pit crew. Henry Hernandez, Ian Hew and Superior's webmaster Ken Higby all qualified very close behind John, so the A Main promised to be a very close race!

Nitro RS4 Open class racers made up the largest class, like other HPI Challenge races. There were nearly 40 racers total, and lots of racing action! John Wong was again right up at the top, but with four other drivers qualified close behind him, we were anxious to see how the A Main would be sorted out on Sunday.

Our Super Nitro RS4 Open class had just four racers, making us wish we had brought one or two Super Nitro cars to run, or to lend to other racers. While the racing action was fun to watch, we hope that more Super Nitro racers will show up at future events!
