From the start, it was easy to see that there were several racers who had spent plenty of time working on their cars in order to make this the toughest-to-judge HPI Challenge Concours ever!

About 50 cars were brought forward, and a crowd of racers quickly formed to see what the competition had. Concours judges Cameron Wagner, Thad Garner and Frank McKinney spent a long time trying to figure out how to select one car that stood out. The problem was, there were easily a dozen cars that could have won a concours event anywhere they went!

Here are just a few of the early standouts:

A good "r/c race" paint job that was noticed early A dedicated Ehobbies employee airbrushed this excellent hood! The Supra - a racers' favorite, there were many on the track! This one featured a great paint scheme
The only Altezza body on the track, this one had a working windshield wiper! Check out the engine in this Castrol NSX! Working lights made this BMW sedan stand out
Quad exhaust! Simple, clean and very nice! Accessory mirrors and a matching paint scheme on the inner body
Nice metallic flames on this '98 Accord body

After several minute's deliberation, it was determined that there was no way we could pick just one car from the group, so the judges decided to pull the top ten cars forward.

There were a few racers who were disappointed that their car didn't make it into the top ten picks, but to be honest, the judging was so hard, it was impossible to pick just a few cars, so we had to pick a bunch! Judges Cameron, Thad and Frank decided to pick the top three cars by picking three or four cars each and moving them up one car length at a time. The three cars that moved forward the most would be our finalists in the HPI Challenge Concours!

Here are the top three cars that we chose:
The Yokohama BMW sedan, Castrol NSX and TRD Altezza made it easily from the Top Ten to the Top Three! A reverse shot of the Top Three line-up. Would you be able to pick a car from these three? It was a hard decision!

By now you're really anxious to find out who won, right?
