German racers have a complete schedule of HPI Challenge races that are being held all around Germany. LRP Electronic is doing a great job of organizing a series of races for HPI car owners in all areas of the country. AMT magazine (Auto Model Teknik) is also sponsoring the races, providing exceptional coverage of this one-make racing series that has proven to be very popular!

LRP-HPI-Challenge German Final at Burgdorf
05./06.08.2000

During the 5/6 of August the first German LRP-HPI-Challenge final was held in Burgdorf (near Hannover). It was a brilliant result, with about 130 starters at the very first German final. That proofs the point, that the LRP-HPI-Challenge in Germany attracts more and more drivers to come to a race. After about 825 starters in 79 regional races in 2000, the LRP-HPI-Challenge will be THE race series to attend in Germany in 2001. Many of the more established race series in Germany don't show a similar performance.

The organising club of the first German final was the MAC Burgdorf e.V., which made a perfect job. They were supported by Race Director Friedel Brandt (Berlin) and moderator Tom Bundt (Hamburg). Both experts were brought there by LRP, just to make racing perfect. The track in Burgdorf is surely one of the best tracks in Germany and with the great surrounding, like Camping directly beside the track, two days of pure sun, no time delays, very good technical inspection (nearly without any complaints), loads of trophies and prizes, there was no chance of the starters to complain about something - except that everyone would have liked to win.....

LRP-HPI Mini Challenge (29 starters)
Past master Eberhard Beck dominated this class and won in front of Karl Heinz Scherer and the young newcomer Gunnar Arnason. All A-finalists drove a HPI RS4 Mini, although other cars were competing.

LRP-HPI Sport Challenge (40 starters)
HPI-Sport European champion Gereon Schaefer got TQ and won the third A-main with the fastest time of the day. But his was not enough to get German champion. Boris Herzog was the guy, who took top honour by wining the first two A-mains. It was local hero Michael Birnbaum, who took the third place. He was one of the important guys, who were involved in organising the whole race. The Top3 of the A-final all used the brand new HPI RS4 Sport 2 car. All over there were 8! HPI RS4 Sport 2 cars in the A-main, beside 2 Yokomo MR4 TC.

LRP-HPI Pro Challenge (61 starters)
In Germany, every car with every option part is allowed to race in the pro-class. Therefore a hard fight between the different car manufactures was expected. But finally it was only local hero Peter Schulz-Nowak with his Yokomo MR4 Pro, who managed to finish in 5th place. All other cars in the A-main were HPI RS4 Pro 2´s! The pro-class with the fast LRP 12x2 turns motors is surely the most demanding class. It was young Tobias Wiebach, who took TQ and won all 3 A-mains in front of Michael Rohde and Stefan Thuener.

During the trophy presentation at the end of the day, also the three top guys of each region (5 regions all over Germany), of each class, got special trophies and prizes. The winners of the final and every one of the 130 starters got trophies or at least a prize. So the first German LRP-HPI-Challenge final came to an end and everyone had something to talk about for the next few weeks. Everyone was happy and satisfied. Hopefully we will see them next year to the second German LRP-HPI-Challenge final! Finally, the best drivers of all classes will be starting for Germany at the upcoming HPI-Challenge Euros in Burglen/Switzerland.
